Not too long ago I wrestled with the pain of watching my husband go through the challenge of someone taking unfair advantage of his generosity. No crime was committed just the fractures of a wounded heart and some raw emotions. As believers we are not immune to the afflictions of encountering the brutal, self-serving tendencies of a world under the sway of the evil one. As I processed the ugliness of it all with the Lord, struggling to keep my heart free from the corruption of un-forgiveness, I heard Him whisper: “exchange rate.” If you have ever traveled overseas, you know that the foreign currency exchange rate can be a little unpredictable. Many things factor into the exchange: current market values, goods bought and sold, investments, debts etc. Some days you might trade up or some days you might trade down. Depending on where you come from and where you are traveling, your dollar may not hold its current value in the transfer. As I inquired of the Lord a little more I sensed Him urging me to offer the wrongdoing to Him with a sacrifice of praise, banking on “Heavens Exchange Rate.” He enticed me to cash it all in with this thought… “You won’t get a more profitable or secure exchange anywhere!” I realized it was, in fact, the wisest investment I could make. Did you know Heaven has an exchange rate? Here’s an example… “not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:9 Here’s another… “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you… “ “ … love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High.” Luke 6:27,28, 35 When we make a decision to offer God the “wrongs done to us” and bless the hands it came through, when we take that theft, wound, injustice, slander, etc. to the foot of the cross, the redemption price Jesus paid can be fully applied. In return we will receive not revenge, not witnessing them get what they deserve, not even what we feel we deserve, but the reward Jesus deserves. Jesus won a victory that has secured heaven and earth as His inheritance. And He has promised us a share in the blessings! This exchange rate is guaranteed and it won’t change, alter or depreciate with time but is reserved on deposit in the unchanging heavenlies! I challenge you, the next time you are caught in the cross hairs of the evil intentions of another put that wrongdoing on deposit with the Lord and bless the hands of the perpetrator in the Name of Jesus! You can do this with confidence, praise and rejoicing knowing your reward is great! The good name of Jesus guarantees you won’t find a more profitable, secure exchange anywhere! “but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Mathew 6:20
